Gary Davis is a permanent resident of Guemes Island and is sole proprietor of Guemes Sunrise Coffee Roasters. He was a public servant for 15 years in the Bay Area and relocated here with his wife Donna in 1999. He has been on the FGI interim board since its inception and assumed the duties of president August 29, 2005. Gary, like many of his friends and fellow islanders, is opposed to extending the weeknight ferry schedule and is willing to continue on the board of directors of FGI and lead the effort to persuade the County Commissioners to back off of this program. In addition to this very important issue he feels that FGI as an organization can help insure that Guemes maintains its rural character well into this new century by supporting the wishes of its members both politically and, when necessary, legally. |

Deb Bear moved to Guemes Island in 2004 after 20 years as a high tech program manager in and around Seattle. She volunteers as a Firefighter/EMT on the island and would like to contribute further to the community by participating as a member of the FGI board. Deb is very interested in maintaining the rural character of the island. She feels that until zoning on the island can be implemented to assure the long-term integrity of the aquifer that late weekday commuter ferry service needs to cease. |

Robert Easton has been a permanent resident of Guemes Island for 13 years and a property owner since 1969. He recently retired following 20 years with H & R Block. Prior to that he was in wholesale carpet sales for 28 years. He volunteered to serve as treasurer because he agrees wholeheartedly with the goals of Friends of Guemes Island and because his prior experience qualifies him for that position. He and his wife Laurel want Guemes Island to maintain its rural character. We strongly oppose extended ferry hours. |

David Wertheimer divides his time between Guemes and Seattle, but has considered the island his primary home since 1998. He is Principal Consultant with Kelly Point Partners, a human services consulting firm named after the part of the island where he lives. He is offering to serve on the FGI board because of his desire to preserve the unique rural character and community life of the island. He is an advocate of carefully planned development and sub-area planning processes, and is therefore opposed to actions by the County Commissioners and others that will impact the island but are made without careful consideration of their environmental, social and economic consequences. He is opposed to extended weeknight ferry hours and favors extensive citizen involvement in the making of key decisions related to the future of Guemes Island. He shares his home and life with Paul Beaudet, and Kari, the Karelian Bear Dog. |

Dave Wolf has been a full time resident of Guemes Island since 2004. "The island's rural character is the primary reason for making Guemes Island my home." His decision to join the board is motivated by his desire to serve the community and his belief that proactive planning is required to manage change. He is fervently opposed to the extended ferry hours since they adversely impact rural character as well as the environment. Dave volunteers as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with the Guemes Island Fire Department, the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), and the Guemes Island Library. He shares his home with Deb Bear and his children Sara and Jonathan. Dave previously spent 26 years working in the field of high technology, most recently with Amazon.com where he was responsible for deploying new data centers and developing a disaster recovery program. |
